Earlier this week, we visited Esprit founder Susie Tompkins Buell at her SF flat (see A Home at the Top of the World, San Francisco Edition); when we asked her about her affinity for the color green, she said, "My mother loved nature and said, 'Never put anything on the floor that's a color not found in nature." Inspired by these words of wisdom, we went in search of kitchens reflecting the "colors found in nature" philosophy. Here are nine spaces with hard-wearing green floors in materials ranging from marmoleum to painted wood to industrial rubber.
